Now take a piece of 1/2" x 2" steel bar and make a hole in it so that the old pitman arm end will fit in this hole. Grind as needed. The splines on the shaft seem to be slightly wider at the top, than the bottom, so the arm is sort of wedged in place. Like a pipe fitting. And there is a lock washer that belongs on there.
