Shimrod has a mod (low fat sims, I think) to prevent weight gain from overeating (like at buffets and such), but I haven't used it because I don't really see inactives overeating to that extent. The mod was also updated after seasons was released. Its always worked for me. It takes about 2 or 3 sim days to see the added weight, but if I don't have my sims exercise it shows up gradually.
