WebMay 16, 2009 · The top of the cowl should be body color and the firewall's black overspray should come up to the top edge or close to it. No sharp line, just a rough paint edge. And the area under the cowl panel gets body color also but gets a shot of black down where the wiper linkage is. Hate to say guys no easy way but to blast and epoxy then tape off the area during other paint prep then shoot paint its hard to look perfect and FYI cover while buffing the car because if compound get in there your not going to get it out. WebFeb 23, 2024 · I’d think you could strip a lot of the old paint under there through the 4 large holes in the cowl cover with a 2” disc. As far as priming/painting the top cowl cover, I think I will try masking from underneath in a way I can get the masking out, through the blower and/or wiper motor holes.

I brushed on several coats of industrial enamel with at least a day in between coats so the paint dried in thin coats and would not crack. I think the exception is if it has Z/28 stripes. Then the "cavity is somewhat sprayed the color of the stripe so when looking through the panel yousee the same color as the stripes.
